Insanely Awesome Finger-Painting Of Morgan Freeman, Created On An iPad!

Oh hey look, it's Morgan Freeman! Nice snap, right? What if I were to tell you that this ain't a photograph! It's a fucking painting! And not an ordinary painting, a painting created on an iPad!

I ain't kidding, mother swear! ;)

So I was doing the one thing that I love the most to do, browsing around the web! And I came across this news that some "digital artist" based in UK created a painting of Morgan Freeman. And I was actually searching on that entire page where the heck the painting was when I realized that it was in front of me all along!

It was this! From the start itself, I assumed that this is a photograph on the basis of which the artist painted. But to my surprise, this was the painting itself!

So why the hell am I posting about it? As you all know, this is mainly a web design blog. Art is deeply integrated with web-designing. Hence, in one sense or another, we are all artists! I really thought that this little piece of art can inspire you guys a lot!

So here's the story behind this painting:

So there is this premium app available for iPad called ProcreateKyle Lambert, a "digital artist", created a portrait of actor Morgan Freeman that's so life-like that I didn't believe he'd painted it at all, never mind, on a fucking iPad!

I recently discovered that it was possible to create incredibly high-resolution (4K) paintings using only my iPad, and I wanted to see just how far I could push digital artwork and paint a true photorealistic portrait. I started with a blank white screen and began capturing Morgan Freeman's likeness, quickly painting the broad strokes with my finger. I then reduced the brush size to a few pixels, pinched to zoom and carefully painted in the fine detail.

Here's an interesting fact: It took him about 200 hours and 285,000 brush strokes to create this insanely life-like portrait!

The portrait is based on a real photograph taken by Scott Gries. Lambert didn't create the picture from memory, but even so, it's an impressive piece of work.

The painting looks so close to the original source photo that many have doubted its authenticity [as I myself did], so much so that Procreate co-founder James Cuda felt moved and verified this portrait himself!

This portrait of Morgan Freeman is so realistic, so well crafted, many believe it's a fake. This is a testimony to the quality of Kyle's ability. His work is so realistic, it's practically indistinguishable from the reference photograph by Scott Gries. The controversy prompted us to check the source file for ourselves, and after analysis we were able to verify that what we are seeing is the real deal.

Kyle is a true artist, here are a few more words by him:

One of the big reasons I decided to do this painting was to inspire other budding artists to embrace digital art. A friend of mine who is a school teacher explained to me recently that whenever he plays one of my painting videos in class, his students become noticeably more engaged and excited about creating art. The idea that more people are engaging in art because of something that I have created is amazing to me.

Luckily, he shot a time-lapse of the process so we can see exactly how it was done! About 200 hours and 285,000 brushstrokes have been condensed down to just three minutes so that you can see, stroke by stroke, how the picture was put together!

If you ain't watching this video right now, I would be forced to believe that you have no emotions!
